STARLUX™ Pulsed-Light Photofacials Intense pulsed-light uses spectrums of light between 400nm-1400nm wavelengths. The Starlux pulsed light photofacials will treat rosacea and increased vascularity, improves large pore size, helps erase age spots, melasma (pregnancy mask or hormone-related pigmentation), and other forms of increased pigmentation (dyschromia). The overall result of photofacials is an improvement in the appearance of the skin and an overall healthy glow. Age spots will lighten or disappear. Often, only one or two treatments can produce dramatic results.
Starlux photofacials are often referred to as "lunch-time procedures" because they take about 30-45 minutes to perform on average and do not have any major down-time or recovery period.
After any of these treatments you may experience some redness or swelling at the treatment site. This can be covered with make-up and you can resume normal activities immediately. What our patients like the most about these procedures is that no one has to know that they had them. They just look better!
Often after only one treatment, your skin will have a more even tone with a smoother look and feel. Sunspots and pigment will fade. Pore sizes tend to shrink. Usually these improvements will steadily increase with each subsequent treatment. Patients with rosacea and increased vascularity will see a progressive decrease in redness with every treatment.
The redness and flushing of rosacea can be reduced 80 to 90 percent. The redness associated with blood vessels can be dramatically reduced. Often, irregular pigmentation and age spots are lightened and improved. For the majority, post-operative discomfort is almost non-existent. After treatment with most light systems, the treated skin may appear a little flushed and capillaries may seem to be more visible. The flushed look soon fades away, and the capillaries appear to vanish, leaving the skin looking younger. It's that simple. Subsequent to any treatment, you should follow your doctor's instructions, avoid any harsh skin cleansers and use sunscreen. It is always wise to stop smoking for both the health of your lungs and for the health of your skin.
