Be aware that there are two types of Titan procedure machines: 

  • Our clinics XEO w/ TITAN™ runs on 220 volts, the less expensive Titan Solera  runs on 110 volts. 
  • The XEO w/ TITAN™ comes with the Genesis Skin Rejuvenation System, which Dr. Leiker often does with  many of his Skin Tightening Procedures.
  • Dr. Leiker  has found that the two procedures together can often provide a superior end result for the skin.
  • Now we also have LUX DEEP IR Fractional Skin Tightening for larger surface areas or a second "DUAL" or even "triple" tightening method.
The Titan/LUX IR procedure causes collagen to contract and thus tighten the skin. The Genesis procedure reaches into the dermis to stimulate new collagen formation and target the microvasculature.  In our own clinical patients, Dr. Leiker has seen the Genesis and skin tightening combinations often reduce laxity, and some fine lines and wrinkles.  Further, XEO w/ TITAN™ can perform “three dimensional skin rejuvenation.”
 
Dr. Leiker feels it is best, for the patient's safety, to have a physician perform the skin tightening procedure to receive optimum results.  Many offices use technicians or nurses.

Titan and Lux Deep IR employs infrared light energy. It provides a very uniform distribution of energy for heating the deep dermis.

How does the Titan work?
Titan utilizes a safe, infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin's surface. This heating can cause immediate collagen contraction. During the procedure, the skin's surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan handpiece. After the procedure, new collagen growth results in further tightening and with tissue remodeling the molecules rejoin and the result is less folds, looseness, and laxity of the skin.

Imagine a rubberband that is all stretched out. Then imagine that the rubberband is treated with Titan-like energy, and it becomes more elastic and much tighter.

Who can be treated with Titan systems?
Since the Titan procedure is heating tissue under the skin's surface, patients of any skin type can be treated. Men and women of all ages have been successfully treated.

How many treatments will I need?
A single treatment has produced very good results for some patients. Your physician will advise you as to the number and frequency of treatments recommended for optimal results. These treatments are often done in a series of two or three.

What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and very mild swelling in the treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours. Consult with your physician for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment. Dr. Leiker has never seen skin depressions with his skin tightening systems.  Competitor systems have had problems in the past with burns and skin depressions from burning into the fatty tissue.

Some patients see results immediately. However, for most patients, the results are gradual over a three to six month period as new collagen is formed and the existing collagen is heated and contracts with further tightening.

With each Titan pulse, you will feel a brief heating sensation. Some patients are more comfortable taking a mild pain reliever beforehand. Many patients are comfortable without anything. Your physician will advise you. Generally we find it unnecessary to use pain medication or anesthetic.

**If an office says that they are "physician supervised" - ask to see the physician while you are there doing your consult. Many clinics are misleading patients that they are physician supervised.
